Day at park

I had to go to Grand Rapids for some school stuff and to try to find a place to stay during my upcoming class.  Shawn, Cory and I all headed out and picked up Mat and Anna on the way.  Most of the day had to be a little boring for them....sitting in the car while I made stops.
Then, we got some blueberries from Wally World and headed to Blandin Beach for some fun time.  It didn't last long, as it started to rain while we were there.
Here's Mat on the slide, obviously perfecting his mean face -lol:
They had a cool rope climby thing the kids loved:

Even this big kid:
All in all, it was a great day.  You know the kind.  Nothing out of the ordinary, really - just time spent with those you love just enjoying life.
After the park, we went to Pizza Ranch in Hibbing.  After eating, Shawn and kids played tag on the plaza sideway.  Grandma prefered to just watch...lol.

Todays Adventure with Logan

Today's drive was without a doubt one of the funnest drives I have ever taken !!
After work, I let the ponies out to graze for awhile.  Then, I loaded up Logan and cart and headed for a local gravel pit !!

We headed out down the trail.  It was perfect weather - warm and sunny with a slight breeze. The trail winds through the woods and comes out in the local campground.
The trail has a bridge over the beautiful East Branch of the Baptism River.  Logan wasn't too sure about crossing the bridge.  He didn't want to do it and started backing up.  He backed me into some brush where there was no choice but to head away from the bridge.  I drove him about 100ft, then made a large circle to approach the bridge again.  I figured I would just keep doing that until he decided to cross.  Well, I only had to do that once - he hesitated briefly, then at my urging, crossed the bridge nicely.
The bridge is really a beautiful spot.

After the bridge, we were in the gorgeous Finland Park.  The park is located where the E and W Branches of the Baptism River run together.  It has about half a dozen picnic spots and is a nice place for a cook out.

After a quick lap around the park, we headed back over the bridge
Just a little hesistation and no backing up at all!! We took a quick trot through the campground.  He really had a nice trot - it is smooth and ground covering,
Here is my favorite spot - Logan kept looking at that little rock on top of the rock wall - it must have looked like a critter to him.

Then, we headed back to the gravel pit and did some loops, figure 8s, circles and just trotted around the winding roads between gravel piles.  He seemed to enjoy that.  Here he is, looking at our truck and trailer across the pit - probably wondering if I am going to make him swim - lol.

After the drive, there was treats, hugs, loves and lots of praise.  He is such a wonderful little pony !!!
